Haringey Churches Winter Night Shelter.
Thoughts from Father Tim

I'd like to thank everyone who has helped in any way with the Night Shelter over the past month. It has been a wonderful experience for all who have been involved.

This year I have been struck by just what a wide range of people have volunteered to help. Parishioners from each of our three churches and Hornsey Parish Church have been at the heart of the volunteer teams. But others have come to join us in the ministry to our guests: staff from St Aidan's School; members of local community groups; mums from Rokesly School; people whose marriage banns we have read. Many more people have asked to help. We are truly grateful to everyone for their generosity and enthusiasm to help their fellow men and women.

Helping people when they are in times of need is definitely a good work. It is also a religious work. Jesus said of those who had fed the hungry and welcomed the stranger: "Truly I tell you, just as you did it for one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." (Matthew 25. 40). Yes, the Bible teaches us that when our guests come to Church for Night Shelter it is Christ who comes in them.
